Hunting

Hunting is an activity regulated by the Ministry of Natural Resources. Hunting is allowed, without any special permission, of deer, small game, and duck, on the lands owned by the United Counties of Prescott and Russell. Please note that it is prohibited to install a permanent observation tower and to build fires.

Hunting period - Zone 65 (Larose Forest)

Moose (bull-cow)

  • From October 8 to the 14th, 2018 

Deer

  • Rifles, shotguns, bows and muzzle-loading rifles
  • From October 8 to the 14th, 2018. 

Archery only (no dogs) Hunting season for residents

  • From October first to the 4th, 2018
  • From October 15th to the 4th, 2018
  • From November 19th to December 2nd, 2018
  • From December 10th to the 31th, 2018

Hunting season for non-residents

  • From October first to the 4th, 2018
  • From October 15th to the 4th, 2018
  • From November 19th to December 2nd, 2018
  • From December 10th to the 31th, 2018.

Others:

  • Ruffed grouse from September 15th to December 31rst, 2018.
  • Squirell from September 19th to December 31rst, 2018.
  • Rabbit and Hare from September 15th to March 31rst, 2018.
  • Wolf and coyote all year
  • Wild turkey October 10th to October 22nd, 2018.

NOTICE

One must have a valid pass from the ATV Club of Eastern Ontario in order to circulate on the Larose Forest trails. Any circulation other than on the established trails is liable to a fine. Note that it is strictly forbidden to circulate with ATVs to scout for hunting.

Restricted area for the discharge of firearms

It is forbidden to discharge any firearms within the area located on the following map. For additional information regarding By-law 2012-62, please contact the City of Clarence-Rockland at 613 446-6022.

Moose Hunting

Hunting is an activity regulated by the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Special permission from the United Counties is required for moose hunting in all wooded areas under its jurisdiction. This permission is available, at a cost of $75 (plus HST), at the United Counties’ administration office in L’Orignal, once you have received your tag from the Ministry. This can be obtained by visiting the administration office or by calling the following telephone number.
