The Counties Roads Department provides services for all County Roads in Prescott and Russell from one of its three garages.
Summer maintenance
The Roads Department proceeds to repairs and maintenance of roads surfaces, shoulders, road sides, bridges and culverts, surface drains, ditches as well as to the completion of various construction projects.
Winter maintenance
The Roads Department sees to salt and sand application, snow removal and snow-clearing from overpasses on its 566 kilometres of road.
When a county road goes through a town and becomes the Main street, the snow removal on sidewalks and paved shoulders is then under the care of the local municipality, as stipulated in The Municipal Act.
Issuing of different permits
The Engineering and Building Service is an internal service and consists of two different sections. The first section coordinates capital expenditure projects for the Corporation and groups the maintenance services for the social housing buildings and for the Counties’ buildings, including the administration office in L’Orignal.
The Engineering Services section coordinates capital expenditure projects for new facilities, from planning and designing, to the realisation of the construction projects.
