Silvicultural Management
Since 2000, the silvicultural management of the Larose Forest is under the jurisdiction of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell. Before, it was in the hands of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources.
Twice a year, the United Counties proceed with three to four tenders to harvest wood lots.
Management is done according to the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) standards. The United Counties have received help from the Eastern Ontario Model Forest in order to obtain this certification. Income generated is reinvested in the Forest with a primary objective to conserve a natural environment and its economical, environmental and tourist development.
