Hunting is an activity regulated by the Ministry of Natural Resources.
You may hunt deer, small game, duck, etc. on the lands owned by the United Counties of Prescott and Russell, without any special permission. It is prohibited to install a permanent observation tower and to build fires.
MOOSE HUNTING
The Larose Forest region provides habitat for one of the rare populations of moose in Southern Ontario. The United Counties of Prescott and Russell’s territory is divided in
eight hunting zones. A restricted number of hunters have access to each zone every year. A special permission from the United Counties is required to go moose hunting in all United Counties wooded area under its jurisdiction. It is possible to obtain this permission at the United Counties’ administration office in L’Orignal, at the beginning of September for a cost of $75 (plus HST). You can obtain this permission by either going to the administration office or by calling the number below.
