PLANNING
Planning
The United Counties of Prescott and Russell’s Planning and Forestry department manages the land use with an effective planning and respect for the environment. It works on the basis of an Official Plan, revised every five years. The department also manages the Larose Forest.
Applications for creation of lots, such as subdivision or condominium plan and even an application for amendment to the Official Plan are to be presented to the Planning staff.
The Planning department has developped a highly advanced cartography system. Prescott-Russell à la Carte is a powerful tool, easily accessed by residents, visitors, students and municipal employees.
The United Counties or your local municipality?
There are two levels of municipal government in Prescott and Russell : your local municipality and the United Counties of Prescott and Russell.
The distribution of jurisdictions regarding the area planning and land division may seem complex. Do not hesitate to contact your local municipality or the United Counties’ Planning and Forestry Department to find answers to all your questions.
Please refer to:
- Your local municipality for any building and demolition permits, zoning questions and municipal taxes.
- The United Counties for the creation of lots or changes to any existing lot, except for the City of Clarence-Rockland they should be contacted directly.
You must deal with both levels of municipal government for amendments to an Official Plan and to establish a new subdivision or condominium plan.
