Tourist Information Centres
The Coordination of Tourist Information Centres (TIC) in Prescott and Russell Project was introduced in 2006 by EDT. The coordination project aims at promoting a regional overview in operations and visitors services, which includes service quality control, front line staff training, applying norms in the presentation of promotional material and the collection of statistics. The collaboration of all stakeholders and the sharing of information with all centres are key elements that will lead to the success of this regional project.

EDT offers financial and technical support to organizations responsible for the 6 TIC located in the region. First, the applications for grants to hire summer students are sent together and presented as a project. Then, the visitors services attendants receive a 35 hour training program, prepared and delivered by EDT. This training includes 10 hours of theory and 25 hours spent touring the different tourist attractions located all over Prescott and Russell.

Constant support is offered to TIC by means of a newsletter and visits of the centres. Statistics collected par staff throughout the summer will be used in the end-of-season report prepared by EDT. The centres are located in Hawkesbury, Chute-à-Blondeau, Alfred, Rockland, Casselman and Vankleek Hill.

Fam Tour
A Fam tour (familiarization) is an organized educational tour to learn about a region’s tourism attractions and offerings. It’s not a leisure trip, but it certainly is interesting and fun! It is also a networking and business development opportunity for tourism operators.
